Governing Bodies of the Research Institute of Brewing and Malting, a.s.

Company Bodies According to the Articles of Association: General Meeting, Board of Directors and Supervisory Board.

In addition, the institute has established a Scientific Council, which serves as an advisory body for research and development activities.

General Meeting

The General Meeting is the highest governing body of the company. A shareholder may attend the General Meeting in person or be represented based on a written power of attorney.

The General Meeting is held at least once a year within the period stipulated by the company’s Articles of Association, but no later than six months after the end of the financial year. It is convened by the Board of Directors, or by a member of the Board if the Board fails to convene it without undue delay, or if the law requires the meeting to be convened, or if the Board is unable to act for an extended period of time, unless otherwise stipulated by law.

Organizational Structure

The organizational structure of the Research Institute of Brewing and Malting (VÚPS) reflects both its research focus and its historical division into two main locations: Prague and Brno.

  • Barley, Malt, and Plant Products – handled by the laboratories at the Brno site

  • Beer, Wort, and Beverages – analyzed by the laboratories in Prague

  • Microbiology Department – located in the Prague laboratories

  • Specialized Analyses – conducted in both Prague and Brno laboratories

Additional components:

  • The publishing division (responsible for the online journal Kvasný Průmysl) is based in Prague.

  • The library specializing in barley and malt is located in Brno.
