The Institute organizes or participates in the organization of specialized conferences and seminaries particularly in the area of brewing and malting. Not only on a national level but also internationally.

Brewing-malting days

Every even-year Plzeňský Prazdroj, Inc., organizes a conference titled Brewing-malting seminary where RIBM participates in preparing specialized program.

The tradition of the first seminary started in year 1958 and the founders intended besides specialized program also socializing of brewmasters and brewing society as a whole.

Integrated seminary „ŽELIV“ for current matters in legislation and technologies in brewing and malting

This seminary regarding the legislation development is organized by RIBM in cooperation with field partners, scheduled for May annually, according to the extent and importance of amendments of European regulations.

At the seminary there is discussed the development of legislation, drafted modifications, introduced technical news.

Technologies and assesment of beverage industry products

The conference is organized by Czech chemical society- specialized group Fermentation chemistry and biotechnology, Czech chemical society- branch in Plzeň, Biotechnological Institute, University of chemistry and technology Prague, Research Institute of Brewing and Malting, Inc., Plzeňský Prazdroj, Inc.
 

Up-to-date information about barley harvest quality of new harvest

Regular workshop organized by RIBM in Brno. The participants of the workshop are informed about quality of barley from new harvest. The samples of barley are assessed in compliance with ČSN 46 1100-5. Obtained results are statistically processed. The attention is mainly focused on the content of nitrogen compounds in barley grain and damage of grain which could negatively influence quality of malt.
 

Technological, economical and senzory aspects of malt quality from new harvest

During the annual workshop in RIBM in Brno in October, the participants are presented with barley performance during a micromalting test. Further, the participants are acquainted with quality of malt from new harvest and are informed about possible technological measures necessary to production of quality malt.
 

Assesment of quality of varieties of malting barley

The participants of the workshop, taking place annually in January in RIBM in Brno, are presented with results of analyses of samples of spring and winter barley which applied for the registration as malting. The representatives of malt producers comment on malting quality of barley varieties. The representatives also present their request to be classified in the list of already existing varieties, in the List of recommended barley varieties.
 

Selected papers from conferences and seminaries are usually published in the journal Kvasný Průmysl.
